Overview
Canada Remembers Guide is a free resource by author Kimberley Walker for visiting Canadian war cemeteries, memorials, and museums in Europe. I built the site around her routes: pick a war, a starting city, and one, two, or three days, and you get a self-guided itinerary with photos from every stop and a printable version to take on the road.
The brief
The guide's value is its routes: dozens of cemeteries and memorials sequenced into drivable days. The site had to make the right route easy to find by war, departure city, and trip length, and hand visitors an itinerary they can actually use in the car.
What I built
- 18 itinerary pages organized by war, departure city, and trip length: WW1 routes from Paris and Brussels, and WW2 routes from Paris, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Brussels, and across Italy
- 21 downloadable itineraries and guides, including driving tips for France and how to find Canadian burials
- Full-bleed slideshows and photo galleries from the author's own photography, served as WebP and AVIF through Nuxt Image
- Press pages with an audio player for her radio segments on Vimy Day and D-Day
- Redirects for retired itinerary URLs, an XML sitemap, and a prerendered homepage
